Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) supplements, derived from Ubiquinone, can help to support a number of important reactions in the body, including cellular growth, energy production and brain & neurological functions. CoQ10 works with vitamin E as a free radical scavenger in cell membranes and blood vessels. CoQ10 is found throughout the body and is especially concentrated in the liver, kidney and heart, but CoQ10 levels have been found to decline with age. Also, Statin medications have been shown to lower CoQ10 levels and the addition of CoQ10 supplements to statin drug therapy can help replenish depleted CoQ10.
